Paul Cezanne – from impressionism to modern art

However, this was a short episode in Cezanne's life. Inspired by artists likeMonetPissarro and Manet, in the 1860s he began to explore Impressionism and new ways of breaking the rules of art. However, it was not until the 1890s that Canne's art began to be properly appreciated. 

 

Like all pioneering artists, Cezanne continued to develop his painting throughout his life. Not only did he continue toartists like van GoghGauguin,Toulouse Lautrec räknas to the great post-impressionists. He also paved the way for theabstract arts. Cezanne had a vision of capturing the essence of the subject, which led him to move away from the figurative and towards other forms of expression, including abstraction;

 

In Cezanne's paintings you can see how he played with perspective and used different perspectives to depict the same object. This bold stylistic approach made a great impression on artists such asPicasso, Braque andMatisse, who later developed art styles such as Cubism, Fauvism and Modernism.
